Welcome! And Why Essentialism!?

Hello everyone, my name is Emi!

I am here to talk about…how I simplify my life, and what kinds of great benefit I gets from this lifestyle.

I am a very happy, content and optimistic person! 😁 However, I have not been like this before I see the importance to declutter “things” in my life. It has changed over time. I want to share with you… through accumulating many, many small conscious decisions and actions… how EVERYONE can achieve the mental state of…

“I have everything within me to live a fullest life!”

Please let me introduce a little bit of myself…

  • I am a Japanese-Chinese person.
  • I live in Melbourne Australia.
  • I am 29 years old.
  • I work as full time teacher.
  • I was living by myself before, and recently moved in with my partner.

← And I am a bird sometimes. 🐦(Cutting and dying my hair in bathroom.)

I wanted to create a platform that I can unleash all of my minimalism skills and introduce my own spin to it for a very long time. There are many people in my life have told me these that led me to believe I should do this…

“how do you keep your things so organised?😳”

“I feel so peaceful in your home…😌”

“you should do some sort of lifestyle channel or somethings!”

Or even “Ca you come to my house to help me throw away and organise things too?!😮‍💨”

(I did not act upon the last request (and I have been asked this often), because… I know I will be harsh if I really am allowed to do this, and it can ruin friendship…! We can talk about “Minimalism Vs relationship” in other future post.)

I am going to make a weekly post here to unwrap everything that I know for some detailed process and ways of simplify life. It is a long journey, and let’s enjoy every steps of the way.

First, I want to emphasise that I am not about getting rid of everything in our life. I think there are some misunderstanding toward the word “minimalism” among many of us. (We will touch on this in anther post I guess!) I am not putting importance on counting how many things are in your wardrobe… are you able to name everything you have in kitchen cabinet… and other extreme emotion and impression you might have when you hear the “M” words!

Rather, this blog is about:

Simplify your way!

~Walk toward Essencialism that make sense to you.~

I know this sounds very vague. However, when we paint our picture of perfect life, it can not be the same. We have different scale to measure our success in achieving this. And…I will show you what kinds of ways we can make us accountable.

We all have different lifestyle, routine, hobbies, living situations… so how much we have, why we keep certain things, our process naturally will be different. For example, I was living by myself, so I had pretty simple home that only made sense to me. However in recent weeks, I moved in with my partner. So we are in transitioning period of making choices together about everything that we co-own. (I am pretty lucky that he is also very on board with this…and even bit more extreme than me! )

Also… I am in currently bit in a process to transitioning from working full time to part-time. This is for allowing me to use opened up time to fill my days with other fulfilment I want in my life. I would love to share all these with you as well.

↑ This is my current living room. It is reasonably calm and clean for me and my partner now.

In upcoming posts, I would like to introduce mainly these areas:

  • My take of minimalism mindset, and where it lead us to.
  • Dissecting decluttering each place in home…such as living room, bathroom, kitchen, home office, wardrobe and more.
  • Think about money, workload, and how you want to earn?
  • How we see time as our assets?
  • How you present yourself to the world? How much time and effort you spent to do this? Is it working for you?!
  • How minimalism can affect your relationships? (Families, partner, friends, coworkers and more)
  • Honest Pros and Cons of minimal lifestyle, what is your priority?

I hope these topics will be helpful for us to discover our ideals and leads to make changes. (Both physical and mental ones!)

I would love to share with you what kind of goal I have for my life. So that you may have some idea why there is a drive for me to simplify my life.

🌱EmI’s life goal:

  • To be free from the restrictions of location and time in life
  • Able to pick up my life instantly and live somewhere else when opportunity presents
  • Have limited burden (making conscious decisions what to have)
  • Have multiple income sources to support and uplift my partner and my living.

I wonder… what is your goals in your life? Why you may be interested in simplify your life? Is it because this may help you to maximise your joy, achievements…I will bug you with all the questioning later on. This is one of the way to remind us why we do this.

I thank you very much for reading my first blog post ever! As I write, I struggled a little bit to limit myself how much I want to include here. This is a platform about simplify after all… I need to control my excitement too! 😉

I will show up again…Bye for now! 🚀✨
